While taking a manufacturing class where we needed to brand, build, and sell a product, I created the GeoTerra brand to sell our geometric planters filled with succulents.
The sellable product needed to include 2 of the 3 materials we'd studied: Wood, plastic, and metal.
My group picked hexagonal wooden bases and geometric plastic pots. With a succulent expert on our team and two industrial designers, I helped out with branding and packaging.
Knowing we were leaning into the geometric style, I put several logos together. I pulled in some font options to go with our fun tagline, a few color schemes based on the succulents we were selling, and a few succuent shapes. We picked Quicksand, the warm and vibrant greens, and made a few modifications to the bottom succulent shape. When in full color, the succulent icon can include all five shades with the geometric pattern. If it needs to be in black or white, the icon will still come across as a flat color.
We wrote up simple instruction guides for keeping succulents alive and added 5 simple instructions to a toothpick which lives in the pot with the plants. You can see the flag instructions in the final product photos with the logo on one side and care instructions on the back.
With the boxes, instructions, and planters completely assembled, we sold over 100 within the hour. The geometric wooden bases allow them to stack in this gorgeous arrangement.
