We needed a logo that would show up well in the app icon on the google play store. As the app designer's favorite game is chess, I played with several chess piece icons before landing on the bishop which allowed for a distinct shape with near symetry. Because it has use in many games, I played with dice motif for a while but decided it was too much information for such a small space.Â
I leaned into the counter aspect and landed on the +1 addition to the bishop.
The app only has two pages and we wanted to include both light and dark themes. We picked a color scheme that allowed for many color options (used to highlight each players name) and used a bright theme that worked well with a light and dark background.
When uploading to the app store, we created a banner image and mockup to meet the store requirements. This highlights the light and dark themed versions on the app with the simple UI.
